Ruthie Yawn

Ruthie L. McGallion Ard Yawn, 82, of Fred, died Sunday, September 29, 2019. She was born on April 5, 1937, in Honey Island, to Lucy Gore McGallion and Samuel Andrew McGallion.  

Survivors include her children, Sherman Ard and his wife, Suzanne, of Silsbee; Janice Chapman and her husband, Richard, of Mayhill, New Mexico; William David Ard and his wife, Lorrie, of Jasper; James Daniel Ard and his wife, Tiffany, of Leesville, Louisiana; and Henry “Sonny Boy” Yawn and his wife, Delicia, of Fred; grandchildren, Rowdy Harper, April Harper, Alyssa Yawn, Theran Yawn, Cannon Yawn, April York, and Adam Robbins; great-grandchildren, Hannah Harper, Patrick Harper, Kaylynn Harper, and John Harper; siblings, Merlon McGallion of Fred; Elvis McGallion and his wife, Lisa, of Evadale; Reverend Welton McGallion and his wife, Donna, of Silsbee; Shirley Winkle of Spurger; Peggy Sharp of Onalaska; and Nita Green of Silsbee. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clyde Ard and H.R. “Sonny” Yawn; granddaughter, Samara Yawn; sisters, Ruby Cravey, Louise Riddick, Faye Fowler, and Bobbie Horton; and brothers, Leslie McGallion and Elgie McGallion.

A gathering of Ruthie’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Franks Branch Cemetery, Fred.

The family would like to invite all to a reception after the interment, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 20468 FM 92 South, Fred.
