Susan Wood Tomplait

Susan Wood Tomplait, 59, of Nederland, died Friday, October 6, 2017. She was born on November 7, 1957, in Port Arthur, to Violet Marie Hebert Wood and Billy Rule Wood.

Susan worked as a nurse for many years at Christus Hospital-St. Mary and Park Place Emergency Room. She retired as a Registered Nurse from University of Texas Medical Branch after eleven years of service. Susan enjoyed flowers and plants. She will be remembered for her love and care for people and animals.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacy Baker and her husband, Troy, of Nederland; son, Adam Tomplait of Groves; grandchildren, Darian and Zachary Baker; brothers, Charles Wood and his wife, Mary, of Port Neches and Mike Wood and his wife, Lisa, of Vidor; and nephews, John and Brent Wood. She will especially be missed by her faithful dogs, Izzy, Molly, and Sophie. Susan is preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of Ms. Tomplait’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Broussard’s, Nederland, followed by her interment at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
