Vernon Ray Bishoff

December 1, 1941 - June 8, 2017

Vernon Bishoff, 75, passed away June 8, 2017 at 3:43 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas at Altus Hospice, The Gardens Facility.

Born and raised in West Virginia, the son of Dessie Shaffer Bishoff Alva and Bishoff, he was a lifelong resident of the Hamshire area.

Vernon spent ten of his early years in the Army, stationed in Germany. Later on, after discharge from the Army, he chose to spend most of his life as a mechanic and in the coal mines of West Virginia. After moving to Texas, and settling down, he chose to change his job occupation, again, and began working at Chemical Waste.

Vernon had very many hobbies; fishing, watching the NASCAR races, watching baseball, building things, scratching lottery tickets, and spending time with his family. Vernon also enjoyed spending his time out at the barn where he took care of his cows, chickens, ducks, and his favorite quail.  Vernon’s favorite pastime was riding his 4-wheeler, with his grandsons, to the pond to shoot the snakes.

Vernon was the type of man that put his family first and would give you the shirt off his back.  He helped anyone that he could.  Vernon was a very strong willed individual and never gave up on what he wanted. He was and is still loved and respected by many.  He will be greatly missed.

He leaves behind his wife of thirty-five years, Helen Clement Bishoff; his daughters, Kimberly Bishoff, Barbara Bishoff, and Dessie Bishoff; step-daughter, Jolynn Holland; step-son, Edward Hebert; sisters, Ethel, Audra, Peg, and Opal; along with many grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Dessie; granddaughter, Candance and brother, David Bishoff.

A gathering of Mr. Bishoff’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017, with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Friends and family are invited to a gathering after the service, at First Baptist Church, of Fannett,  17019 SH 124, Fannett. A private committal service for Mr. Bishoff will be handled by Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, Winnie.
