William "Bud" Michael Fleenor

William (“Bud”) Michael Fleenor, 78, of Silsbee, Texas, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, after a long battle with kidney and liver disease. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Christine Murphy Fleenor and Roy Rockford Fleenor; brothers, Roy Fleenor and Gary Fleenor Jr.; and his sister, Sue Sizemore, all of West Virginia.

Bud was born on February 2, 1942, in Dante, Virginia. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era as machinist aboard the USS Hector from 1964-1967; and the Naval reserves from 1967-1970. During his time in the naval reserves, he met his wife of 51 years, Carol Hess Fleenor. Together they bought a house in Dayton, Ohio, where they had three children and lived until moving to Silsbee, Texas in 1980. He continued working as a machinist until he retired in 2004 and remained a resident of Silsbee. 

Bud loved his family and particularly enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren and watching them participate in extracurricular activities.  He also enjoyed working on anything mechanical and readily used his mechanical talents to help family members, friends, and neighbors resolve mechanical problems or issues with vehicles or equipment. 

Bud is survived by his loving wife, Carol Fleenor of Silsbee; children, Melinda Thomas and her husband, Richard, and their children Charlie and Emily Irons, all of Lumberton, Tx; William (“Billy”) Fleenor and his wife, Kelli, and their children, Avery and Ashlyn, all of Magnolia, Tx; and Steven Fleenor of Houston, Tx, and his daughter, Isabelle, all of Kingwood; sisters, Sherry Hill and her husband, and their children, all of Lynco, West Virginia and Margaret Davis and her children, all of Peach Orchard, West Virginia;  and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Mr. Fleenor’s memorial service for family and friends will be 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Broussard’s Mortuary Silsbee, Texas.
