Catherine “Cathy” Minick

July 13, 1935 - June 6, 2024

Catherine “Cathy” Minick, 88, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Vidor Health & Rehabilitation Center in Vidor, Texas.

She married Paul Leon Minick in 1993 in Las Vegas, after living together for 17 years. They were happily married for 26 years before his passing in 2019. Their 43 years together created a large blended family.

Cathy was born July 13, 1935, in Beaumont, Texas, to Harry B. and Ivy Massingill. She graduated from South Park High School in 1953 and attended Lamar State College of Technology for 2 years. Cathy worked at Jimmy Himmel Motors in Downtown Beaumont, and many years at Joe’s Oilfield Rental Tools, from which she retired. To reward themselves, Cathy and Paul built a beach house and spent their later years between Beaumont and Crystal Beach.

Cathy’s joys after retirement were running the roads gambling, and playing BINGO with her dear friend, Mary Ann. She also enjoyed crocheting, watching soap operas and game shows, and any old movie she could get her hands on, on the 86” TV purchased for her den by Farah and Jessie. Her most precious times, though, were spent visiting with her great-grandchildren, thanks to Lorena, Emily, Tabitha, Samantha, Jessica, and Kelly.

We would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver, Joanie, and the nurses who gave her comfort in her later years.

Cathy is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Minick; parents, Harry and Ivy; brother, Harry B. Massingill Jr. and his wife, Mary.

She is survived by her son, Larry C. Forster and wife, Donna, of Beaumont; stepdaughter, Farah Sanders and husband, Jessie, of Chester; grandchildren, Christopher James Forster and wife, Lorena, of Beaumont; Emily Ann Young and husband, Trey, of Huntsville; Samantha Bush of Houston; Tabitha Turner of Katy; Lauren Graham of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Riley Quinn and Olivia Mae Forster; Grace Elizabeth and Lane Thomas Young; Zachary William Koempel; Erica Madalie Bush; Elijah Lee Politza; and many beloved step-granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

Mrs. Minick’s funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
