My thoughts and prayers to the Allums family. Mr. Allums was our bus driver when we would ride the bus to and from my Grandma and PawPaw Laird’s house. We were the first to get on the bus and the last off in the evenings. He would drive me crazy spitting his tobacco on the steps of the bus right before I got on the bus. He just smile that big smile of his like it was no big deal. Our route took us through the hunting club over wooden bridges and dusty roads and he drove them like Jeff Gordon. In Algebra class he would lean back in his chair and throw and eraser at you if you weren’t paying attention. He was always such a hoot. My heart goes out to his daughters Laurie and Leah, I know you will miss him. Hold your memories near and he will always be with you.

So sad to hear of this. May God grant all the family his love and peace in their time of loss. Mr. Allums was such a great fixture up at school. Sad to see via the obit we’ve also lost Mrs. Allums too, one of my absolute favorite teachers of all time. So very sorry Leah and Laurie.

    Dearest, “Dog Eye”,
You were my favorite teacher when I attended, Kountze High School, many moons ago! I’ll never forget you! You always called me, “Miss Fay” ~&~ even when I should have failed Algabra, you promised to pass me if I would just stop crying! 🙂 I just want you to know that “Ernie Overstreet” has never let me live it down, even after all of these years! 🙂 With love ~&~ the best of memories!
