Else’ Jean Worsham

January 3, 1937 - May 10, 2024

Else’ Jean Worsham, 87, of Beaumont, died Friday, May 10, 2024. She was born on January 3, 1937, in Erlangen, Germany, to Barbara and Ludwig Bittle.

Soon after coming to the United States at 19 years old, Else’ was hired to model hats for Lerner’s Shops of New York. Else’ was very artistic and as she continued her career, Lerner’s Shops sent her to New York to be trained in designing window displays. She also worked for The Fair Store before being hired at Dillard’s in Parkdale Mall. Her career at Dillard’s selling social and better dresses spanned twenty-five years. Throughout her career she had the pleasure of meeting all the members of the Dillard family and won many awards for top sales. Else’ will be remembered as an early career woman, who succeeded in making it to the top.

Survivors include her son, David Worsham and his wife, Cathy; niece, Renate Forster; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Wayne Worsham; siblings, Ludwig, Leo, Gretel, Marga, and Joseph.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Worsham will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the chapel at Calder Woods, 7080 Calder Avenue, Beaumont. Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Worsham were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
