Geneva Dorothy Lee Nelson McMains, 86, of Fannett, Texas, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Momma Mac had a lot of loves, but her top 2 were #1 her family, mother of 6, grandmother of 16, and great-grandmother to 22. She was always there for us. Momma loved to have fun and enjoyed when all her family was together. Her #2 love was being at her first home, The Ranch in West Texas. Although it took a lot to get all of us 6 kids, her and daddy Mac packed and, in the car, we did it as often as we could from Port Arthur, Texas to Barksdale, Texas for the long 8 or more (dad driving) hours in the car5. But she was happy as we all were when we drove into the Ranch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph and Juanita McMains; Lorraine Clopton; Maggie & Jason Courville; Dora and Marty Baque; and Becky and Adam Solorzano; grandchildren, Jennifer and Mark Adams; Jeremey McMains; Jake and Kathleen McMains; Cory and Kim McMains; Coleman McMains; Chase and Leslie McMains; Billy “Bud” Clopton; Matthew and Monica Clopton; Josh and Amy Clopton; Hannah Courville; Dorine and Jarrod Baque-Rodriguez; Breanna and Joe Angel Luna; Monica and Ellaina Baque; Emma and A.J. Solorzano; great-grandchildren, Josie, Aubrey, and Anna King; Gavin and Dallas McMains; Hallie and Macie McMains; Maddie, Jessie, and Laynie McMains; Mazlyn and Korra McMains; Jaxson Clopton; Hayleigh, Bradley, and Riley Clopton; Marty, Jaylee, Wyatt, and Virgil Baque-Rodriguez; Issac and Isaiah Carbajal; Malachi Luna; and we can’t forget, Tator; brother, John Nelson of Barksdale; and sister-in-law, Algarita Nelson of Barksdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin, and Maggie Jay Nelson; her husband of fifty-two years, David McMains; son, Boyd McMains; and brother, Joe T. Nelson.
A gathering of Ms. McMain’s family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will be at Barksdale Cemetery, Spring Creek Road, Barksdale.

Aunt Geneva and uncle David were always
there for me . When I had to travel for work,
I was warmly welcomed in there home in
Port Author .
I shall never forget their loving kindness , I
miss and love them so much .

Sorry to hear the news, my prayers are with the family. Tina. Wetzel, just told me on the 29th, which I think was the day of the funeral. This is Frances, Lounora Wetzel’s daughter. I have sweet memories of Uncle Dave and Aunt Geneva and I know they loved their family above all.
