Helen Scholl Irion

Helen Scholl Irion, 101, died Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Altus Hospice The Gardens, Beaumont. She was born on September 25, 1915, in Houston, to Maggie and Charles Scholl.

She married J.D. Irion in 1935 in Houston, and they moved to Beaumont in 1940. They celebrated their 60th anniversary before his death in 1996.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Bookout and her husband, David, of Dallas; and Pat Daleo and her husband, Frank; and Judy Melling and her husband, Michael, all of Beaumont; grandsons, Randal Bookout, Philip Daleo, and Jon Melling; granddaughter, Shalene Melling Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Astin Bookout, Piper Bookout, and Halle Bookout, Ryan Humphrey and Brandon Humphrey.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Irion and grandson, Michael Bookout.

A gathering of Mrs. Irion’s family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.
