James “Jack” Burke

James “Jack” Burke, 78, of Lumberton, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born December 20, 1944, in Alton, Illinois, to Lena Genevieve Lyons Burke and Edward John Burke.

James was an avid pool player that enjoyed his weekly pool league team. Also enjoyed playing cards, any kind of board games, his past bass fishing clubs, and fishing in general. Was a true Chevrolet man that loved engaging in the old drag racing cars. My dad enjoyed talking to anybody and was a true traditionalist who was honest, loyal, and very trustworthy.

Jack is survived by his children, Cindy Burke -Seeman; Patrick Burke; and Janine Burke Colton; sister, Kathryn Burke-Sullivan; and numerous extended family members and friends through the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Burke’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 2901 Twelfth Street, Rock Island, Illinois.
