Jean Phares
Jean Francis “Bailey” Phares, 85, of Nederland, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020, at Gulf Coast Health Center, Port Arthur. She was born November 9, 1934, in Beaumont, to Eron W. Burran Bailey and Eric M. Bailey, Sr.
Survivors include her children, Debora Lynn Hansford; Cynthia Kay Phares; Susan Elaine Cooper; and Marcus Owen Phares; grandchildren, Kaycee Botkin; Karlee Cooper; Dakota Phares; and Dalton Phares; great-grandchildren, Chandler Eli Cooper; Presli Grace Cooper; Ella Michelle Cooper; Suki Marie Phares; and Nolan Wayne Botkin; and brother, Eric M. Bailey, Jr.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eron and Eric Bailey.
A private family committal will be held at a later date, at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

I volunteered for two years at the Scout office back in the "80s. Jean taught me the ropes and was a great scouting mentor and friend. When she retired I had the privilege of being her surprise guest and enjoyed spending that time with her. She was so good at her job and knew how to make "customers" feel comfortable. She was smart, witty, dedicated and embodied the scout way of life to a tee. It was a privilege to know her and I have many great memories of good times with her.
