Jimmie Bruce Lewis

December 1, 1957 - February 20, 2024

Jimmie Bruce Lewis, 66, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born on December 1, 1957, at Elmendorf Air Force Base, in Anchorage, Alaska to Mary Lou Brewster and Ronald Leon Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Hicks Lewis, and daughter, Megan Ashley Lewis. He is also survived by his 3 chihuahuas particularly his beloved Rosie Posie.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Ronald Lewis.

Jimmie was retired from the City of Orange where he served at Director of Planning and Zoning for 20 years. He then worked as a Senior Transportation Planner for the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission. He enjoyed gardening and volunteered at the Beaumont Botanical Gardens. He loved to cook and particularly enjoyed making unusual international food. He enjoyed hiking, camping, kayaking and was an avid cribbage player and puzzle builder.

He was a loving husband and father and a great friend to many. The family is planning on having a Celebration of Life sometime in the future. Jimmie was adamantly opposed to funerals and the family has chosen to follow his wishes.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Lewis were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, through Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

    We only just met Jimmie last year through the Elks Lodge but we liked him immediately. He was always smiling and I thought he had the kindest eyes. We are so sorry for your loss, Pam and Megan.

    To be a friend of Jimmie meant that you were going to be laughing and hearing many great stories. Jimmie never missed a chance to lend a helping hand. This included digging up plants, hanging dining room light fixtures and driving me to an MRI appointment in Houston. What a loss. Many good memories will be relived for years to come.     I worked for the City Of Orange along with my husband, Joe Will, who worked closer with Jimmy. They had a really great friendship, to know Jimmy was to love Jimmy. I remember coming to your home for dinner and I will always remember the funny stories told by both of you. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
