Johanna Rachel Brown

September 19, 1949 - May 23, 2022

Johanna Rachel Brown, 72, of Manvel, died Monday, May 23, 2022.  She was born on September 19, 1949, in San Jose, California, to Jane Spinelli Sink and Clifford Dow Sink.

Johanna worked as a registered nurse in various capacities for over forty years.  She was active with the Giving Doll Program at Southview Baptist Church.  Johanna was an avid reader and she enjoyed crocheting.  She had a great sense of humor and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Nana.

Survivors include her sons, David Bastian and his wife, Mona, of Wildwood; Harold Bastian and his wife Dusty, of Kountze; Isom “Sam” Brown, III and David Brown and his wife, JoAnna, all of Groves; and Joseph Brown and his wife, Toni, of Nederland; daughter, Heather Davis and her husband, Jeff, of Manvel; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Adam, and Sarah Bastian, Matthew White, Aaron Arboleda, Christian Kirbow, Gavin, Mia, Ava, and Xander Brown, Aiden Cooper, Kaylee Wales, and Hunter Choate; and sister, Ellen Takazawa of Hilo, Hawaii.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, of over twenty years, Isom Newton “I.N.” Brown, Jr.; first husband, Clyde H. Maupin; son, Daniel Maupin; and sisters, Ruth Beaverstock and Cathleen Engle.

A gathering of Mrs. Brown’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Southview Baptist Church, 23003 State Highway 288, Rosharon 77583, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her interment will follow at 4:00 p.m., at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
