John Paul Kelly, Jr.
John Paul Kelly, Jr., 69, of Lumberton, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.
Paul enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to hunt and fish. He was always tinkering on something. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, Uncle and Friend. Paul always had an open door and giving heart. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus. Paul graduated from LIT for Instrumentation and retired from Exxon Mobil.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Claudia Kelly; son, John ‘J.P.’ Kelly III; daughter, Danielle McCarty and her husband, Mark McCarty; grandchildren, Tyler Kelly, Jadon McCarty, Maverick McCarty, Maggie McCarty; siblings, Bill Hecht and his wife, Charlene; brother, Jerry Hecht, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Margie Kelly; nephew, Stephen Hecht; sister-in-law, Terri Hecht.
Paul was diagnosed August of 2021 with a rare tumor, Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma. The doctors were not sure if he would make it to Halloween that year. He told them he wanted to fight, and that is what he did. He fought a good fight.
A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022, at Broussard’s. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
