John Madison Vickery II

August 17, 1972 - August 9, 2021

John Madison Vickery II, 48, of Kountze, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021. He was born on August 17, 1972, in Beeville, to Reba Fowler and John Ervin Vickery. His battle with his heart condition in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain and suffering he dealt with, he stayed strong until the end. To know John was to know enduring love and his love for Jesus. If you were close to him, you probably received many of his YouTube links, silly pictures, songs, and random thoughts throughout his day.

John spent the majority of his life working in the refineries, but the last few years due to his heart he has been home doing what he loves most which is spending time with his grandchildren. Starting with the oldest of the grandkids, Preston, Trenton, Zuri, Brayden, Abe, Honey, Navy and the newest addition to the family Hudson.

John married the love of his life Kim Vickery on July 23, 2000. Together they created a blended family with children, John Irvine Vickery and his wife, Emily, of Le Mars, Iowa; Dale Leon and his wife, Tori, of Dayton; Ashley Leon and her fiancé, Derek; Jade Vickery and Koby Cummings; and Alivia Roehr and Dalton Donahey, all of Kountze; and Cesar Hernandez of Port Arthur; eight grandchildren; and siblings, Gene Schrecengost and his wife, Claire, of South Jordan, Utah; Reba Darlene Babik and her husband, Steve and Betty Jo Hinson and her husband, Herman, all of Kountze; DeAnna Markham and her husband, Zeke, of Bandera; Andrew Hinson of Kountze; and Tanja Irwin and her husband, Jackie, of Beeville. His mother-in-law, Lynda Gilliland and numerous family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law.

A gathering of Mr. Vickery’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, Silsbee.

Floral offerings are welcome, but for those wishing to make memorial contributions, may do so to the John Vickery Memorial Fund at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
