Lillian Y. Hebert

April 30, 1936 - October 2, 2023

Lillian Yvonne Rutledge Hebert passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at her residence in Kountze, Texas.

Lillian (a.k.a., Granny & Aunt Tede) was born on April 30, 1936, in Beaumont, Texas, to Madelyn and Ralph Rutledge. Lillian married Clarence Hebert on March 31, 1954. They were blessed with sixty-two years together.

In the 87 years God gave her, Lillian was many things to many people. She was a housewife and faithful companion to Clarence who was waiting for her on her arrival in heaven. She was a mom to David and Myra (a.k.a., Sissie). One of her greatest joys was her grand and great-grandchildren. She lit up when she saw them and loved spoiling them every chance she got.

Lillian was the Candy Lady to kids, young and old, at her church, First Baptist of Loeb;

Tede to family; Granny to extended friends and family across the country;
the sweet little lady who baked and brought cookies to McDonalds, Brookshire Brothers, the bank, the auto shop, doctor offices, and literally every place she frequented; and the friend who planned and loved to meet with her special coffee “family” as often as she could.

There really isn’t space and time to begin to celebrate the fullness of the life God gave Lillian. By His grace, she made every minute of her life count. As she enjoys the wonders of heaven made possible by her Savior, Lillian will be greatly missed. Hopefully those of us who have been privileged to know her will be encouraged by her life and be living legacies of her love and influence.

Lillian is survived by her son, David Kerr Hebert and wife, Alana; daughter, Myra Lynn Hebert Fenison and husband, Darvie; grandchildren, Dustin Fenison and wife, Danielle, of Kentucky; Devin Fenison Waddle and husband, Brandon of Alaska; Eric Reeves and wife, Annie, of Texas; and Aspen Stampley and husband, Brian, of Texas; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hebert; her parents; and four siblings.

A gathering of Lillian’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her interment will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze. Her son-in-law, Darvie Fenison, will officiate with Brother Travis Hood assisting.

A special thanks to the caregivers and doctors who have made such a difference these last few months: Hospice Plus, her doctors and their staff, and so many who went above and beyond to be a blessing and meet every possible need.

    I just saw where Ms Hebert passed away. Her Mom was in the Nursing Home with my Mom. Ms Hebert and the family was so kind. I had asked Ms Hebert when Ms Rutledge passed to call me and they did. It was about 2:00am and I went and picked up my Mom. When I put Momma in the bed with me she asked if Ms Rutledge had passed and I said yes. Momma just sighed because it seems she was out living her friends. Then I saw Ms Hebert at Dr Schachner’s office and thanked her for being so kind to my Momma. They were a very special family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Ms Herbert but know she is in a much better place. I want to thank the whole family for the kindness that they gave my Momma. Now Momma and Ms Rutledge are together in Heaven a whole new body visiting together in Heaven and in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ..

    Deeply saddened to see that this beautiful sweet lady is no longer with us. I met Mrs. Hebert while working in the pharmacy at Walmart in Lumberton. It was always a pleasure to talk to her and Mr. Hebert. She always wore a smile and always found a way to make me laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

    I am 53 years old and it seems just a short time ago that I remember visiting Aunt Tede at her and Uncle Clarences home in Beaumont. My Mom (Sherri), Grandmaw (Peggy), Sister (Amy), and myself would stop by to visit after hitting up the local Goodwills. We knew that there would be something cooking on Aunt Tede’s stove. She would gives all big hugs and pinch mine and Amy’s cheeks. Before we left she would try to give us cookies and chips and sweets and snacks to take with this mama would say no and eating and say yes they can have that. Auntie had a way for persuasion. And sometimes she slip couple of dollars in our pockets and say now don’t you tell your mama. Over the past 30 years I haven’t been able to visit home as much as I like to. So I haven’t seen a lot of my family as much as I would like to. But I have many memories to reflect on. I know that her family meant the world to her and if you weren’t family she made you family. She always had joy in her heart and love to give. At tmes she would worry too. I believe she called herself a worry wart sometimes. But she had much love many hugs and many cheeks to pinch. Aunt Tede I love you and I will miss you. And I know that you are with Uncle Clarence and you’re with my Grandmaw and my Grandpa Say hello to them for me and pinch Grandma’s cheeks. Until we see each other again… I love you

    I am so so sad about Miss Lillian’s passing but I am happy knowing that she is rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior and her husband Clarence (aka)Doll and all her family and friends that went before her. She will be greatly missed by everyone that ever knew her. She was the most loving, kind and sweet person that I have ever known. We should all strive to be like her. She was a bright shining example of how God wants us all to love one another. She loved her church family and they all loved her and she will always be remembered as the candy lady. Everyone that went to visit her she always sent you home with a bag of goodies and always gave you a hug and told you she loved you. She was my second mama and I loved her so so much and I am going to miss her always. I am praying for comfort and peace for Myra and David and all her family.

    Granny was one of the sweetest souls that my family has had the pleasure to know. My mother, Betty Tarkington was among the McDonalds’s coffee crew along with Granny and many others. She would often take my girls with her when they were not in school. My daughter Taylor loved Granny and would often visit for hours with her and the others. Granny will be missed but has truly left a lasting impression on many. God bless and love to the family.

    Richard Barrett says:

    Mom Hebert was one of the most sweetest and caring ladies I’ve ever known. She loved the Lord and her and Clarence were out visiting for Him all the time. She will be greatly missed. You can read about her in the Bible: Proverbs 31: 10-31 May God bless her family with comfort, strength and wisdom in the days ahead
