Luther “Luke” Dale Worry

November 2, 1959 - October 28, 2023

Luther “Luke” Dale Worry, 63, of Lumberton, died Saturday, October 28, 2023.  He was born on November 2, 1959, in Beaumont, to Ruby Mae Thompson Worry and Willie Odis Worry.

Luke started his career at Mobil O&A plant as a pipefitter. Through the years, he had many adventures. He worked through the maintenance ranks to become a turn-around planner. In 1991, he was assigned a turn-around that would change two lives.

Luke was the supervisor for a 600-pound boiler turnaround with a green engineer, Valerie Cronan. Much flirting and cat-and-mouse games eventually led them to be married in April 1992. They lived in Lumberton and began building a life. In February 1995, they were blessed to welcome Caitlyn Elise to make a threesome. Eighteen short months later, they became a foursome with the birth of Megan Elizabeth. From the beginning, they had their daddy wrapped around their finger.

As an avid sportsman, Luke coached them in softball, soccer, and basketball. It was basketball that captured their hearts. Many nights, they would play HORSE on the driveway until I called them in to dinner. Luke was their biggest supporter and always their coach. But at the end of the day, he was Dad, who loved them to no end.

Along the way, Luke changed jobs going to work for South Hampton Resources, now Trecora.

For the last thirty-one years, Val has stood by his side. It’s been an amazing ride baby, but it ended too soon!

Survivors include his wife, Valerie Worry; daughters, Caitlyn Elise Butts and her husband, Austin, of Dallas; Megan Elizabeth Worry and her partner, Dylan Mays, of Lumberton; and Amber Bingaman of Geneseo, Illinois; grandchildren, Tyler and Shane; and brother, Thomas “Tom” Worry and his wife, Teri, of Lumberton.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Worry; and sister-in-law, Lisa Worry.

A gathering of Luke’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Jasper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Praise Church, 8150 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77713.

Valerie, I am so sorry for your loss of Luke. Luke’s parents used to play 42 with the Marshall’s many years. Lots of memories. Your family will be in my prayers for peace and acceptance in the days ahead. Luke was quite a man.

Mrs. Worry and family….I am so very very sorry for your loss. I did not know until i showed up for my weekly visit today and was informed. I was in disbelief. Completly numb, and felt like I was dreaming. Your husband and father was a great man! An honorable christian man. One of the few. I sat in his office multiple times and heard many a proud story about you and the girls and your achievements and experiences. Even just recently about the beautiful wedding he walked his daughter down the isle for. Gosh this is just unbelievable!! We also shared similar political views and would sit and “wonder” on that topic too and the world of today compared to when we were kids. He was a mentor too! Always willing to help if you asked. He sure was proud of each of you and he shared that with us out here in the industrial field. I have been a sales rep calling on him for almost 30 years and he has stayed with me whenever I made company changes and always was fair and honest and compassionate. He will surely be missed and again I’m so very sorry. May God comfort you through the next few days and weeks and throughout…. sincerely, Christie Cure

So sorry to hear about Luke. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago in Walmart. I have been friends with the Worry family almost my entire life. I have known Luke since he was born.
Charles, Tommy and Luke lived just down the street from us on the Chance Cutoff. My Mother and Mrs. Worry were always best of friends far back as I can remember. My Dad and Mr. Worry
worked together at Mobil Oil Refinery probably
    25-30 years.
