Lydia Bernice Wimer

Lydia Bernice Wimer, 96, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, August 3, 2023.  She was born on March 27, 1927, in Batson, to Beatrice Golden Loftin and Hector Loftin.

Mrs. Wimer owned her own daycare in Port Arthur for over twenty-five years.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and traveling in the RV with her husband, Willie.  She also enjoyed bowling and was secretary to two different bowling leagues.  Mrs. Wimer will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Granny.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Gonsoulin of Kountze; son, Gary Morse and his wife, Dorothy, of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Teri Rodriguez; Brent Morse and his wife, Karen; Keli Zimmerman and her husband, Chris; Jeri Kirkendall and her husband, Chris; and Christina Edgar and her husband, Jake; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband of over seventy-one years, Willie Wimer; sister, Marie Clements; brother, Leonard Loftin; and grandson, Gary “Skipper” Morse, Jr.

Mrs. Wimer’s funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2023, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Her interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Felps Cemetery, Thicket.
