Mark “Happy” Vickers

February 8, 1952 - June 4, 2024

Mark “Happy” Vickers, 72, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born on February 8, 1952, to Sylvia Cornwall Vickers and Leroy Vickers, in Beaumont.

Mark was a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend to many. He was always selfless, always putting others before himself. He never hesitated to cover shifts at the plant when someone else needed to take off. Mark was a mentor to the younger operators and he loved the camaraderie of the older men….especially when food was involved. He donated 86 gallons of blood and plasma that saved countless lives. He always took care of projects at his mother’s house and that led him to offer his assistance to the widows at church and the neighborhood. Mark’s life exemplified the biblical principle of caring for orphans and widows. He loved his grandchildren and “adopted” other kids as a grandfatherly figure and friend. His honesty and genuine caring nature led many people to trust him and confide in him. Mark was a creative and resourceful handy man and repurposer of junk. He loved to tinker and art was his passion. He made stained glass, sculptures, and carved wooden canes and walking sticks. Whenever he met someone, he thought needed a walking stick, he asked if they wanted one. When they asked how much he wanted for it, he told them it was free and gave it to them.
