Patricia Beatrice Culver

June 6, 1932 - June 25, 2024

Patricia Beatrice Culver, 92, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, June 25th, 2024. She was born on June 6th, 1932, to Margaret Hilda Mott and Percy Arthur Gunner in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. She was a professional dancer with Julie Andrews before coming to America in 1951 to marry her one and only husband, when she was 19 years old, and he was 21. Together they created a huge family. They were married for 71 years, and 9 months, until the Lord called him home exactly one year and nine days before she, too, would pass from this life.

Our precious Mamaw has fought a weak heart and failing body for more than half of her life. From the ravages of scleroderma to the cruel disease, Alzheimer’s, never once did she complain. Her physical and emotional pain in life where more than most could endure, yet she bore it with dignity and grace. She was quiet and modest in all things, never boastful; never rude. Her greatest goal in life was to get to heaven. She led her husband, all her children, loved ones, and anyone she could to know Jesus, through her own example of relentless devotion to Him.

She was seen most of her friends pass on before her, as she was blessed to have lived a full 92 years. “Pat” was the best mother and Mamaw anyone could hope to have. Beyond raising five children of her own, she has made a lifelong impact on the life of the granddaughter she raised as well. Thank you could never be enough for all she has done for her entire family. Never did she do things begrudgingly. She gave freely and lovingly… always with the purest intentions. She loved her babies as she called them, until her final breath.

This last Tuesday, June 25th, Mamaw received her eternal reward in heaven. She saw Jesus like she always strived to do. We are heartbroken, but she is new again. She is free from all pain and strife. She fought the good fight. She stayed the course. She kept the faith. She has her reward, and we will remain faithful until we see her again.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl Culver of Sour Lake; Teresa McNeel of Sour Lake; Michael Culver of Vidor; Melinda Decaney and her husband, Gary, of Beaumont; and Melissa Simmons and her husband, Christopher, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Kris, Adrian, Jennifer, Michael, Page, David, John, Jeremy, Stephanie, Kimberly, Sarah, Josh, Gregory, Brandon, Thomas, Alex, Ashley, Taylor, Logan, Cody and Devon; thirty-eight great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family, friends, church family, and loved ones throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, and her only husband, Fred Culver.

A gathering of Mrs. Culver’s family and friends will begin 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Meadows Church of Christ, 9195 Dishman Road, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I first met Pat, when we both attended Sour Lake Church of Christ. She had a beautiful voice and I loved to hear her sing. I remember her telling us about being in Class with Julie Andrew’s.. No matter what she was doing, she was always so calm, pleasant and joyful.. Angel on earth, now she has her wings in Heaven.RIP Ms Pat🙏🏻💝

Melissa and the Entire Family of Mamaw,
She will forever be remembered as having a gentle, meek, and quiet spirit. Her smile was always present, it was always a treat to see and talk with her when she came for a Valdosta , GA visit.

She was always happy to see us her friends here.

We will miss her visits. It was a blessing to know her. Rest in peace til we meet again.
