Ruth Carolyn Crawford

July 24, 1930 - September 22, 2023

Ruth Carolyn Crawford of Beaumont, Texas, passed peacefully from this life at the age of 93 on September 22, 2023.  She is survived by her son, Steven Crawford and his wife, Kathy; grandson, Hunter and his fiancée, Alexis and her beloved son; sister-in-law, Katie Crim; and many dearly loved cousins.  Her last smile was thinking of Alexis’ son saying, “I’m a great-grandmother”.

Carolyn married the love of her life, Fred R. Crawford, following his graduation from Oklahoma State. They were married in their hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. There they made their first home together later moving to Groves, then Houston, and retiring in Beaumont to be near family.

Fred preceded Carolyn in death after a marriage of 52 years. During their active years, they were faithful members of Calder Baptist Church. Fred served as Deacon and Carolyn lead Bible study in the Deborah class. Following Fred’s passing, Carolyn moved to Buckner Calder Woods, where she lead an active lifestyle making many dear friends. She was the longest tenured resident at Calder Woods when she passed. In past years, Carolyn and Fred had been active in the Scottish Society of Southeast Texas where Fred served as Chieftain for a period of time.

Carolyn was the daughter of Barney B. White of Clinton, Louisiana and Ruth Harvey White of Naples, Texas, whose families moved from Virginia to Clinton in the 1860’s and from Georgia to Naples in the late 1880’s.

With humble gratitude, Carolyn’s family thanks her Caregivers for the patient and tender care they gave her during the long hours day and night.

Arrangements are pending with a small family and limited guest graveside service, led by her Chaplain Mike Wood, to be scheduled.

Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn and her family request any memorials or donations be offered to Harbor Hospice, 2450 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77713, in recognition of their devotion, service and love during Carolyn’s in home care. They were an appreciated source of aid, comfort and assistance to Carolyn and her family.
