SGM. Clifton Doyle Brashear

July 29, 1945 - June 19, 2023

SGM. Clifton Doyle Brashear, 77, of Beaumont, died Monday, June 19, 2023. He was born on July 29, 1945, in Corsicana, to Francis Lavern Deskin and Clifton Mildred Brashear. Clifton retired from the United States Army after 31 years as a Sergeant Major. After proudly serving his country, he worked for Farmer Brother’s Coffee Company for over twenty-years. He loved fishing and dancing to country and western music. Clifton was an active member and founder of the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group. He was commander of American Legion Post 33 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1806. He will forever remain a loving husband, father, and PawPaw.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-one years, Karen Brashear of Beaumont; son, Michael Brashear of Monkey Island, Oklahoma; daughters, Emily Brashear of Longview; Ashley Burch and her husband, Wesley, of Longview; Kim Kelley and her husband, David, of Port Neches; Julie Kuhn and her husband, Heath, of Port Neches; Staci Guilbeaux of Port Neches; and Amber Turnage of Sour Lake; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Ricky Brashear and his wife, Ketha, of Cedar Hill, and Jimmy Joe Brashear of Edgewood; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives.

Clifton is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Turnage; sisters, Nelda Powers; Annette Downey; and Barbara Burns; and son-in-law, Brad Guilbeaux.

A gathering of SGM. Brashear’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2023, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Broussard’s, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
