Steve Buser

May 2, 1950 - February 20, 2024

Stephen “Steve” Vincent Buser, loving and devoted husband to Linda neé Haydel for forty-seven perfect years took his final breaths on earth surrounded by love on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Steve, born May 2, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, was one of seven children born to Charles and Sylvia Buser. He was an amazing father to daughter, Vicky Buser Creasy (husband, Aaron) and sons, Shawn Buser (wife, Sarah) and Charles Buser (wife, Hannah).

Steve was the best PawPaw in the world to Sullivan, Sophie, and Sylvia (Creasy); Slade, Sloan, Selah, Steel, Clark, and Thayer Buser. Each of his grandchildren had a special relationship with him and will remember him in different ways. However, each know the power of seeing their seventy-two-year-old PawPaw do a backflip just last year off the diving board.

Steve has always been a strong brother, playing basketball and spades with his siblings; Sue Buser, Karen Thompson, Hank Buser, and Gary Buser. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ted Buser and sister, Judi Gillen. He has over fifty nieces and nephews.

Steve was a proud alumnus of LSU in Baton Rouge (geaux Tigers!). He worked in Journalism as a Managing Editor for a local newspaper before becoming the Mayor’s Assistant for the city of Slidell, Louisiana. He moved to Beaumont, Texas in 1987 to work for Gulf States (later Entergy) and became a strong member of the local community. He volunteered with Toastmasters, Toys for Tots, local food banks, and the Red Cross, always having a servant’s heart.

He later became the CEO of Partnership of Southeast Texas and helped to revive the economic community in the Golden Triangle. Steve helped bring in many large corporations during his career. He also led Leadership of Southeast Texas to help develop many local leaders.

Steve had many hobbies, but his biggest passion was taking pictures of his family. He left many memories through this gift. His love for his family will be remembered forever as he sacrificed daily to make sure his family always felt his love. While he had three children of his own, many children around the country claim that he was their “dad” too.  He coached little league teams and was eager to mentor anyone that came into his home. He was a long-time member of North End Baptist Church in Beaumont. As his ultimate sacrifice, his family has donated his brain to research so that further studies for the cure of Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body can take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Operation Christmas Child Ministry of North End Baptist Church, 5115 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, Texas 77706, km@nebcbeaumont.org

We love you daddy and are happy that “Daddy is finally home”.

A gathering of Mr. Buser’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at North End Baptist Church, 5115 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were made through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

It was our great pleasure to meet Steve & Linda Buser at the Lakeside Center. They came and joined the Volunteer Voices Chior there. They added so much to our Chior. Steve, even though he was dealing with his Alzheimer’s, was glad to be doing something to help others. His wife, Linda, was the same way. We’re so glad that we got to know these fine people. Our condolences to Linda and all the family. Steve was a fine man and seemed to enjoy life a lot. He will be missed, but also remembered for all that he did throughout his life. God Bless You All. Just remember that he’ll always be with you in spirit.

    Mrs. Buser,

I met you around fifteen years ago when you ably assisted me with some banking business. I am so very sorry for your loss. What a remarkable man your husband was! Reading about him makes me want to be a better person. Please accept my condolences.

    Leigh Jordan says:

Such a great great man!! I met Steve and Linda over 30 years ago and have loved them ever since. With all the negative that comes with social media the blessing is being able to stay in touch with old friends as life happens. In the past few days I have had Steve on my mind alot, knowing that the building that is now my new work home is where he worked when he was with Entergy. My heart goes out to you Linda, Vicky, Shawn and Charlie. My love and prayers are with you always. FLY HIGH STEVE!

    Anthony Fasulo says:

Dear Buser family: I got to know Steve and Linda shortly after they moved in to this area. We were all part of a church organization back then, and found them both to be really great people. They switched over to North End Baptist many years ago, and I have not seen much of either one of them since. I send my sincerest condolences and prayers to Linda and all the family in this difficult time. May God’s most wonderful blessings be upon each one of you as Steve smiles down upon each of you from Heaven.

    Alan Caruthers says:

I am proud to have been an honorary Buser. Mr Steve and Mrs Linda took me, along with many many others, in their hearts and arms in Christ.
However, they went a lot further with me, I actually lived with them momentarily while I dealt with family issues of my own. Vic, Shawn, Charlie… every single one of you loved me just like a sibling and I so needed you all. My entire life since then I have sincerely considered each of you as my family.
All of this starts with Mr Steve, of course Mrs Linda too, but oh what a man Mr Steve was! The greatest thing about Mr Steve, to me, was just how DEEPLY and PURELY love. And had the ability/desire to show it!
No one will forget your amazing impact that you left on this world sir and I will never be without the Godly imprint you distinctly left on me. Rest In Peace Mr Buser.

    Your Son,
    Alan

    Carol & Donald Hearn says:

    Dan Wallach says:

Steve was a good man and worked hard to make his community better. He was a fixture in economic advancement for Southeast Texas at a time when many shoulders were needed to help turn the wheel. Steve was a local statesman and I knew I could depend on him as so many others could and did.
