Sue Blanchard

April 10, 1941 - December 31, 2023

Sue Blanchard, 82, of China, died Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on April 10, 1941, to Carola Ardoin Graves and Hoyt Graves, in Beaumont.

Sue Blanchard was raised by her loving parents, and she was the apple of her grandparents’ eyes. She stayed with them during summers and eventually moving in with her grandmother to selflessly provide care for her, during her senior year in high school.

She eventually met, and married her husband, of over 60 years, Buford Blanchard, on November 19, 1960. Then,  they married. Sue and Buford, went to barber and beauty school together, and would go on to have two daughters. She raised them in church, and was involved  in everything,  from  home- room mom,  to vacation-Bible school leader, including the blue birds. She participated, alongside them, in their extracurricular activities, which was her true calling. The girls would go onto marry,  giving them two granddaughters, whom she loved to dote on. And later, she would have her great grandson, who dubbed her “the pancake queen”. She loved to cook, and have her family over for Sunday dinner, birthdays, and any occasion, she could get everyone together. Her food was never ending. She showed her love,  by trying to feed everyone. She would never allow anyone to leave, without getting enough to eat. Her love of animals, especially cats, wound up being her babies to dote on, at the end of her life. She was very kindhearted, with a loving demeanor, and a beautiful smile.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Buford Blanchard; daughters, Kim Beuhler and her husband, Jimmy, of Lumberton and Stacey McCoppin and her husband, Paul, of China; grandchildren, Amanda Beuhler and Chelsie Humphrey; great-grandson, Carson Beuhler; and two sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A private family graveside service will be held at China Cemetery, China, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
