Thomas “Chip” Steven Gentry

Thomas “Chip” Steven Gentry, 76, of Vidor, died Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was born on December 3, 1946, in Vidor to Ethel Granger and Alfred Gentry. Chip was a United States Army veteran and a retired educator for Vidor Independent School District.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gentry; children, Carlton Gentry and his wife, Crystal, of Kirbyville; Wendy Hillin and her husband, Tommy, of Buna; Jennifer Bell and her husband, Matt, of Claremore, Oklahoma; and Cary Gentry and his wife, April, of Montana; grandchildren, Catelyn, Caleb, Cuyler, Cara, Sammantha, Ashlee, Heather, Thomas, Lysa, Kaytie, Lane, Carson, Seth, Cade, Callie, Astin, and Avie; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Lynda Lyons and her husband, Will, of Vidor.

Chip is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jackson Thomas.

A gathering of Mr. Gentry’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6198 FM 105, Vidor. His interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Buna, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
