A Family Concern

In the late 1800's, Alex Broussard, owner of A. Broussard Livery Stable, opened his first funeral parlor in Southeast Texas. That first wood framed parlor was soon replaced by a large brick facility in downtown Beaumont which still stands today. Later, the family firm moved to a large, stately home at the corner of Calder Avenue and Forest Street. In 1958, they moved to one of their present locations in a quiet neighborhood on McFaddin in Beaumont.

Mary Catherine Pearson, 78, of Beaumont, died Sunday, May 5, 2024. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas, 2780 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, Texas 77703. A gathering of Mrs. Pearson’s family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine St, Beaumont.
