Sidney O'Neil Arceneaux, Sr.

April 27, 1932 - August 9, 2021

Sidney O’Neil Arceneaux, Sr., 89, of Port Arthur, died Monday, August 9, 2021, at Mid Jefferson Extended Care Hospital. He was born April 27, 1932, in Port Arthur, to Verna Henrietta VanBrocklyn Arceneaux and Paul Arceneaux.

Sidney was a United States Air Force veteran and he retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty-five years. He enjoyed watching the Houston Astros, hunting, and going on boat rides. Above all else, Sidney loved being surrounded by his family.

Survivors include his children, James Arceneaux and wife, Anita, of Zavalla; Billy Arceneaux and wife, T.J., of Fannett; Diana Norris and husband, Brian, of Richmond; Kathy Charles and husband, Cary, of Nederland; Sidney Arceneaux, Jr. and wife, Kim, of Orange; and Laura Arceneaux, of Zavalla; grandchildren, Christie King and husband, Jeff, of Atascocita; J.C. Arceneaux and wife, Ashley, of Port Arthur; Joe Arceneaux and fiancé, Madison, of Fannett; Justin Norris, of Houston; Jason Norris and wife, Stephanie, of Travis Air Force Base, California; Taylor Charles, of Nederland; Tracy Taylor and husband, Dustin, of Nederland; Cody Arceneaux and wife, Sara, of Orangefield; and Jake Arceneaux, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Jasmyne King; Jaydon and Kason Arceneaux; C.J. and Ethan Arceneaux; Drake and Kade Taylor; and Avery, Madelyn, and Mason Arceneaux; siblings, Roxie Castilaw, of Onalaska; Eugene Arceneaux; Marlene Wood; and Ovelia Battaglio, all of Fannett; and many extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Arceneaux; parents, Verna and Paul Arceneaux, Sr.; and siblings, LeRoy Arceneaux; Joyce Devers; Paul Arceneaux, Jr.; and Myrtis Collins.

A gathering of Mr. Arceneaux’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2021, at St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur, with his interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
