Patricia “Patti” Erin Manuel Russell

May 5, 1933 - November 26, 2021

Patricia “Patti” Erin Manuel Russell (Momo to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren) went home to God on Friday, November 26, 2021. Born in Eunice, Louisiana, on May 5, 1933, Patti was the youngest of seven children born to Dubisson and Bertile Manuel. Patti adored her parents and siblings and was especially close with her sister, Teadie LeDoux.

Patti studied Nursing at Hotel Dieu and graduated in 1954. That same year, she married the love of her life, Lew Cary “Poncho” Russell, Jr. of Beaumont, Texas. Together they built a happy home on Shelley Drive with their three children Cary, Lisa and Leah. Patti and Poncho spent several decades in the neighborhood, meeting wonderful neighbors who became lifelong friends. Warm memories with loved ones, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren bloomed in their home at gatherings that often-included Patti’s famous seafood gumbo and dirty rice.

Patti enjoyed volunteering at St Anthony Cathedral Basilica where she was a Eucharistic minister and was involved in the homebound visitation ministry. She and Poncho were regulars at Saturday 4pm mass and would enjoy dinner afterwards with their sweet church friends. Some of her other favorite activities included monthly luncheons with her nurse friends and competitive games of chicken foot dominoes around the kitchen table.

Patti is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Poncho; children, Lew Cary Russell III and his wife, Mary; Lisa Teague and her husband, Baron; and Leah Russell; grandchildren, Lew Cary Russell IV and his wife, Holly; Cory Russell and his wife, CiCi; Victoria Teague and her husband, Bryan; Mackenzie Teague;  and Elizabeth Teague; and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Lew, Malley, and GiGi.
