Leon “Tommy” Mendoza

Leon “Tommy” Mendoza, 74, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born November 5, 1949, in Beaumont. Leon was an industrial electrician and a member of IBEW Local 479 for fifty-two years.

Leon is survived by his wife, Mary Mendoza of Beaumont; sons, Leon Mendoza, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Granbury; and Sean McKinley and his wife, Angela Elliott-McKinley of Beaumont; grandchildren, Cheyenna, Sierra, and Mollie Mendoza, Angel Jackson, Jacee Elliott, Christopher, Karrie, and Emma McKinley; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A gathering of Mr. Mendoza’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Broussard’s, Beaumont. His interment will follow at China Cemetery, China.

    Leon was my grandpa. I miss him every day and really don’t know how it will feel when we do holidays anymore. I love him. he was a kind and sweet to people and did what he could to help. I have learned so much from him and will miss him forever.

    I had the honor of knowing Leon from our time as bowlers in league. He was always fun regardless of the scores that night and had a superb sense of humor. I know he will be missed.
    My heart goes out to Mary, his children and all his loved ones. I pray that God sends his Spirit to comfort them during their time of mourning.

    This really broke my heart.Leon was a mentor to me for my entire electrical career. He never met a stranger, do anything for anyone,and loved to pass out McDonald’s apple pies to everyone at work. I will miss you Leon Mendoza!

    Tommy is my first cousin. Our Mom’s were very close so we were together a lot in our youth. From playing games to singing for our supper at Shakey’s pizza he was like a brother to Nancy and I. You are missed already Tommy. We love you

    Man, I hated to hear this. What a cool dude he was. I’ve only seen him a couple of times since I grew up, but as a kid, we all loved him and his humor .. I know my dad sure liked him a lot. My granny always had good things to say about him too ..
