Anthony R. “tony” Simon

December 14, 1962 - July 6, 2017

Anthony “Tony” Ray Simon passed away Thursday, July 6th, 2017 after courageously fighting cancer for five years.  He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

He grew up in Winnie, Texas and loved working on the ranch farms and rice fields and going goose hunting as a kid. In high school he participated in FFA and played football.  His love for truck driving began in his teen years when he would drive for the Winnie area farmers.  He moved on to driving dump trucks and tanker trucks for various companies picking up the CB name “Tag Along”.  He went on to drive for DSI which became Trimac earning many service awards including a million mile award and writing their driver safety manual.  Deciding to become his own boss, he purchased his own truck starting Anthony Simon Trucking in 2010. His love for the road didn’t stop at the end of the day.

He and his wife, Debra, loved packing up the car and hitting the open road traveling to many historical destinations including the Gettysburg battlefields and the Hoover dam. When not driving, Tony loved reading about history and shared that knowledge with his kids and grandkids.  Tony never met a stranger and was the anchor for his family who he loved dearly.  He took great pride as each of his grandchildren were born cherishing every moment he was able to spend with them.  His home was often the gathering spot for weekend barbeques and grandkids’ birthday parties where laughs were shared by all who stopped by.  To relax, he would go fishing enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature.  He will be missed dearly by all but taught us each that no matter the obstacle, it can be overcome with a positive outlook and believing everything will be all right.

Survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Debra Simon, of Winnie; daughters, Elizabeth Stowe and her husband, Craig, of Winnie; Brandy Lecoq and her husband, Kevin, of El Lago; and Tracy Matte and her husband, Adran, of Cedar Park; mother, Dolores Ann Marceaux and her husband, Mark, of Winnie; brother, Scott Wheat and his wife, Christy, of Winnie; sister, Renia Baldwin, of Winnie; grandchildren, Katelynn and Chloe Asher; Aeris and Aeryn Waldrep; Lincoln, Mason and Dylan Matte; Godmother, Mary Anne Corley; numerous other aunts; uncles; nephews; nieces; family members and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Pinder, Sr.; daughter, Victoria Hansen; granddaughter, Emma Asher; brother Doyle “T-Ray” Pinder, Jr.; and Godfather, Freddy Henry.

A gathering of Mr. Simon’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 10, 2017. A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A private committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
