Antoinette Montondon

September 26, 1932 - December 15, 2017

Antoinette “Netsy” Marie Montondon, 85, of Port Arthur, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. She was born on September 26, 1932, in Port Arthur, to Anna Provenzano Morrell and Pete Morrell.

Antoinette graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1951, and earned a degree in Secretarial Science from Lamar University. She married the love of her life, J.R. “Rusty” Montondon in 1953. She was a devoted wife and mother, and was the heart of her family. She loved to cook, dance, garden, and travel, and she was a longtime member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. She made a home filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious cooking.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, J.R. “Rusty” Montondon of Port Arthur; daughters, Gaye Montondon of Groves; Suzie Tweedel and her husband, Jimmy, of Port Arthur; and Renee Montondon and her husband, Rennie Ihle, of Port Arthur; son, David Montondon and his wife, Tina, of Nederland; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Morrell and his wife, Frances, of Port Neches.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of Mrs. Montondon’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2017, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3706 Woodrow Drive, Port Arthur, with her interment following at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Montondon’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

Sorry for the loss of your love one. May you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about her and bring her back again.
