Barbara Y’Barbo Richard
Barbara Y’Barbo Richard, 74, of Beaumont died Thursday, March 7, 2024. She was born on August 28, 1949, in Beaumont to Peggy Latiolais and Richard Y’Barbo, Sr.
Barbara was a loving soul. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She especially loved her sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons. They were her life and treasured every moment with them.
She also loved her time working EMS. It brought joy to her helping people. Barbara volunteered many years with the Labelle/Fannett Volunteer Fire Department which led her to the job she loved. She retired from the City of Port Arthur Fire and EMS dispatch after fifteen years. She loved talking to the officers and firefighters, she was MawMaw to them all.
Survivors include her father, Richard Y’Barbo Sr., Silsbee; sons, Joseph Richard, Jr. and his partner, Joey, of Lilburn, Georgia; and Brian Richard and his wife, Angela, of LaBelle; grandsons, Logan Richard of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and Justin Richard of Beaumont; great-grandson, Elliot Clements of Silsbee; sister, Polly Hein of LaBelle; brother, Richard Y’Barbo, Jr. of Cypress; sister-in-law, Susan LeBlanc of LaBelle; and numerous niece and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Richard Sr., and mother, Peggy Latiolais Evans.

A gathering of Mrs. Richard’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont. I remember her well. We were both in the 1st grade at Assumption School in 1955. She didn’t like rain, at all.
I’m sorry to hear she has passed, even though I haven’t seen her since.

We lived. so far apart but from all the comments and conversations I’ve heard from Logan I know you were a very loved grandma to him.
He will miss you dearly.. And by extension so will we. Rest in peace dear Barbara..

Barbara MawMaw.. I remember when we met at AmeriStat and you were my kind of woman! Straight shooter with a great sense of kindness! You were the one who taught me what “Bless their heart” meant ! I’ll always laugh when I remember that look on your face when you realized I deserved a “bless your heart” just for asking! I’ll always remember our “smoke breaks” and your words of wisdom. I am so saddened to hear about the passing of Barbara! I have considered Barbara and Polly as very dear friends!! Although, as years came and went we lost contact!

It was a pleasure to teach with Barbara when we were both at MacArthur Jr. High School. She had a great sense of humor and was an effective teacher.
Barbara and I were classmates at South Park High School class of ’67. She is part of some good memories from those days!
I can’t imagine what all the holidays are going to be without you. This is really tough losing you. I promise to look after your boys and Polly.
