Caryl Anne Gooch

Caryl Anne Gooch, 77, of Groves, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Oak Grove Nursing Home. She was born August 30, 1945, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Mae Elizabeth Caldwell Rycek and Gilbert Rycek.

Caryl was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy as a Wave. Before marrying her beloved husband, George, she lived in Snohomish, Washington for 17 years – a community she dearly loved. She was employed with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s department working as a Child Interview Specialist, where she made a profound impact and was highly regarded in her field.

Caryl was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved home décor, and always made each house she lived in a beautiful and loving home. She was a fabulous cook and was well known for several delicious dishes she loved to prepare. Caryl was thankful to travel with George for many years, visiting family and friends all over the United States. They also enjoyed many cruises together. She was very loved and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include children, Matt Rankin and wife, Keri, of Burien, Washington; Adam O’Farrell, and wife, Rosie, of Chula Vista, California; Greg Gooch and wife, Ann, of Cary, North Carolina; Sue Alto and husband, Michael, of Hagerstown, Maryland; George Ryan Gooch and wife, Nadya of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren, Bella, Kristian, Theo, Lyla, Ben, Lexi, Jackson, Mae, Grace, and Maryna. She is also survived by her sisters, Wendy (Barry) Van Der Meersche and Paula (Doddie) Smith, all of Arlington, Washington; as well as nephew Cameron (Amy) Van Der Meersche, and nieces, Chelsea (Jacob) Alsum, and Mallory (Jesse) Demmer; with four great nieces, and three great nephews, with another on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Gooch.

Mrs. Gooch’s cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland.
