Donald S. Blanchard

Donald S. Blanchard, 77, of Winnie, died Monday, April 30, 2018. He was born August 11, 1940, in Port Arthur, to Willie Oldham Blanchard and Donald A. Blanchard. He had been a longtime resident of the Winnie area, and was retired after thirty-six years of service with the Texas Animal Health Department as a livestock inspector.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Murlene Blanchard, of Winnie; daughter, Tonya Bovell and her husband, David, of New Jersey; brother, Richard D. Blanchard, of Orange; stepson, Billy Wayne Johnson and his wife, Jinifer, of Winnie; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Kathy Humphries, and her husband, Leslie Ray, of Jena, Louisiana; and Laine Sorter, and her husband, Gene, of Winnfield, Louisiana; and dear friend, Angela Dugas; two brothers-in-law, Bubba Ortego and his wife, Mary; and Kenny Ortego and his wife, Suzie; one sister-in-law, Tammy Tinkle and her husband, Rip; numerous nieces; nephews; many other family members; and friends.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Kenneth; and wife, Christy.

A gathering of Mr. Blanchard’s family and friends, will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
