Dorothy Mae Landrum
Dorothy Mae Landrum passed away at Silsbee Oaks Health Care in Silsbee, Texas, on September 22, 2021. Dorothy was born August 9, 1945, to Elmer & Viola Brandin Rice, in Port Arthur, Texas.
Momma Dot, as she was so fondly called by family & friends, is home, whole, healthy & happy. The heavy chains of the dreadful Alzheimer’s disease is finally broken. She loved Jesus, first & foremost. She was loved & was beloved by everyone she encountered. She was always quick to ask how she could pray for and help others in any way. One of the most beautiful things about her is the birth of her grandkids changed her life, she fiercely loved Hunter, Tori & Gunnar. She spent countless hours with them and has made a huge impact on each of their lives. Visiting friends & family and playing board games were two of her favorite things to do. She loved to cook meals for others. Her co-workers at JS Edwards & Sherlock dubbed her, “Betty Crocker”. She lived selflessly and as a compassionate & extravagant giver. She always put others above herself. For many years, she was very involved in the Celebrate Recovery Group at Calvary Baptist Church. She was kind, considerate, loving, generous, truly caring, faithful, and joyful.
She was so many things to so many people. She left a void in our hearts & lives. We had many beautiful moments because of her. Most of you know she was always prepared with her camera to capture each moment! She is so loved & missed by many.
She is survived by daughter, Pamela Ricks and husband, James Ricks, of Magnolia, Texas; beloved grandchildren, Hunter Ricks, of Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Tori Ricks, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Gunnar Ricks, of Magnolia, Texas; and many precious in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by husband, Jerry Landrum; by both parents; and brothers, Gary Rice and Joseph Rice.
