E. Stephen “Jake” Jacobs

November 17, 1966 - March 7, 2024

E. Stephen “Jake” Jacobs, 57, of Beaumont, went to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, March 7, 2024. He was born on November 17, 1966, in San Antonio, to Lucille Wagner Jacobs and Edwin (Jacobs) Jakubowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Jones Jacobs; children, Kaffrey Jacobs and Ryeley Jacobs and his wife, Shelby; sisters, Julie Chisolm and her husband, David; Pamela Foster and her husband, Steve; and Maribeth Start and her husband, Daryl; nieces and nephews who adored him, and a host of relatives and friends.

Jake graduated from Anahuac High School where he excelled in football as quarterback and safety, baseball as pitcher, running track, and singing in choir.  He graduated from Lamar University, going on to become the Service Director at the Tower Club, here in Beaumont, and eventually owning his own restaurant, The Porter House, in Ocean Springs, MS.  Jake and The Porter House were featured in Southern Living.  Jake loved cooking and creating delicious meals for family and friends.  He could take leftovers, you couldn’t imagine going together, and create a meal that had you coming back for more.

Jake loved his mom, sons, sisters, family, and especially his soulmate Melody.  If you were Jake’s friend, he was loyal to that friendship always.  He took pride in training his dogs to be the best they could be, just ask a family member about Cully.  He loved being outdoors hiking with Melody and their dogs, hunting, fishing, and just exploring the woods.  He often talked about riding his bike as a kid, with a shotgun slung over his shoulder, heading out for an adventure with his sister, Julie, cousins, or friends.  He wrangled cattle as a teen with his longtime friend, Mike.

Jake had an incredibly “green thumb”, growing tomatoes each year well into November.  He always gifted Melody rose bushes for the garden, which he tended with loving care.  And he was known to bring home bouquets of wildflowers when they were in bloom.

Jake is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
