Edna Louise Hortness

Edna Louise Hortness, 89, of Katy, died Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Brighton Senior Living of Katy. She was born November 27, 1932, in Starkville, Mississippi, to Mattie Frances Elizabeth Bolding and William Grimsley.

Louise and Buck married in 1953 in Brownsville, Texas. They later relocated to Nederland where they raised their four children. Louise was a fabulous cook and enjoyed sewing and crafting and always put her children first. She never found a book that she didn’t enjoy. Louise loved working in her yard, tending her flowers and plants. She loved all of her grandchildren and enjoyed hearing from them and kept tabs on all of their activities. Later in life she found a passion for collecting dolls. Louise relocated to Katy, Texas in 2015 to be closer to her grandchildren. She loved shopping and had her favorite go-to stores and always took care to look her best. She loved her cat, Lucy, that she rescued.

Survivors include her children, Linda Morgan and husband, Ricky, of Beaumont; Shirley Adams and husband, Rodney, of Katy; Bill Hortness and wife, Jill, of Somerville; and Rhonda Reyes and husband, Roy, of Katy; grandchildren, Kim; Ashley; Kailey; Phillip and wife, Christina; Holli and husband, Simon; Roy and wife, Karlie; Rachel; Robert; Juan and wife, Lynette; Gabe; Lisa; and Marco; great-grandchildren, Luka; Heidi; Levi; Luke; and Oziel; sister, Sandra Leib and husband, Michael, of Lawrence, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buck Hortness; and sister, Mary Powers.

A gathering of Mrs. Hortness’ family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland, with her graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Oakbluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
