Elvin Ray Fuselier, Jr.

October 1, 1961 - October 23, 2017

Elvin Ray Fuselier, Jr., 56 years old, peacefully went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 23, 2017, with his wife by his side.

On this day, Ray is reunited with his son, Jeff, who entered Heaven’s gates 5 years ago.

On October 1, 1961, Elvin and Sandra welcomed their firstborn son into the world at Park Place Hospital at 12:30 a.m. Growing up as the oldest of 3, he always took care of and has his sibling’s back. He never stopped being an amazing older brother, even when Josh and Katina came along years later.

He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1980. He married the love of his life, Ruby, on October 25, 1985. His children were his number one priority, and he spent many years being a model father. When his grandchildren came along, he found his true calling, and no one could doubt that they were his pride and joy. He was a 30 year veteran of the Local 195 Pipefitter’s Union and was employed with Crown Pipe Shop for the last 9 of those years, retiring in 2006. The love of his Lord Jesus Christ was evident in the way he treated his friends, family, and future friends alike, as nobody was ever a stranger. His door was wide open to the neighborhood kids, nieces, and nephews, and was a father figure to anyone who was need. Ray would always make a point to initiate contact with everyone he wanted to keep in his life. Making his rounds encompassed a large portion of his day, driving around in his Chevy truck. Even with the challenges of having lived with juvenile diabetes, he never let this limit his sense of adventure, which manifested itself into his love of motorcycles. He also loved working with his hands, whether it was being under a car or on top of a roof, Ray stayed busy as a Jack of all Trades. Everyone knew that he could work on and would come out to help with anything, at any hour of any day. He truly has touched countless lives, and we are all better people for having known him.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruby Fuselier; daughters, Magan and her husband, Jamie and Samantha and her husband, Dustan; son, Elvin Ray Fuselier III and his wife, Morgan; and Jeff’s fiancée, Ashley; grandchildren, Samuel, Wyatt, Gracie, Cassidy, Cadence, and baby Andie Rae, soon to grace us in this world; mother, Sandra; father, Elvin and his wife, Amie; siblings, Joey and his wife, Donnakay; Melanie and her husband, Steve; Joshua, and Katina; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

He preceded in death by his son, Jeff Caillier.

A gathering of Mr. Fuselier’s family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow, Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Broussard’s. 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7670 Woodway Drive Suite 230, Houston, Texas 77063.

So sorry to hear about your dad, the world is forever changed when a parent is lost. But know your in your work family's prayers. And personally, if I can help with anything, (covered dish, babysitting, just an ear for listening) just let me know.
