Ethel Musick-Smith

November 24, 1921 - June 17, 2018

Ethel Beatrice Musick-Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at her home on June 17, 2018. She was born on November 24, 1921, in Ratcliff, Texas to Alpha Jane Luce Musick and Benjamin Franklin Musick. After getting married in 1937, she moved to Port Acres where she became a longtime resident and member of the Calvary Baptist Church. In her later years, she relocated to Nederland to be closer to family.

She was a devoted wife of 43 years, a loving mother and grandmother, and a fine example of a true Christian woman. Beatrice enjoyed listening to gospel music and reading the bible. She also loved to cook homemade meals for her family and was well-known for the best chicken and dumplings, chocolate and coconut cream pies, and melt in your mouth rolls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom Ray Smith, daughter Jennie Breaux, granddaughter Shirley Stelly, sons-in-law Richard Broussard and Buford Allen, her baby sister Alpha Loraine Musick, and brothers Curtis Musick, Roy Musick, Raymond Musick, and Lacy Musick.

Her survivors include her daughters Billie Ruth Allen of Brookeland, and Goldie Maxine Broussard of Nederland; brothers R.P. Musick of Lake Jackson, and James Musick of Ratcliff; son-in-law C.J. Breaux of Nederland; grandchildren Kathleen Fore of Nederland, Johnny Allen of Labelle, Brandy McMilian of Fannett, Kevin Broussard of Vidor, Brent Broussard of Nederland, Haley Breaux Evans of Plano, and Trevor Breaux of Nederland; 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of Mrs. Smith’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Best chocolate pie I’ve even had and home cooked meals. Visiting Aunt Beatrice & Uncle Tom Ray and playing 42. Very sweet lady. RIP. God Bless you.

So sorry we cannot be there for aunt Beatrice’s funeral. She was such a lovely person, have so many fond memories of her, Still have her recipes for her chocolate pie she gave me a long time ago.. Thinking of you all ! Love Chris.
