Frances “Fran” Eidom

March 28, 1934 - March 27, 2024

Frances “Fran” Eidom, 89, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Fran was born March 28, 1934, in Sand Flat, Texas, to Elvin and Ellen Abram. They later moved to Groves, Texas, and she graduated from Port Neches High School. She then went to work at DuPont and met the love of her life, Nelson Eidom. They married in 1953 and had three children, Tanya, Joe and Tressa.

Fran enjoyed all aspects of life including being a mother, sister, wife, and friend. From cooking roast for her family to bringing a meal to a friend, she always found a way to serve others. Fran’s faith in God was a central part of her life.  You often could find her drinking her coffee in the morning on her backporch reading her Bible. Her desire to serve others extended to being a docent at the McFaddin Ward House, fellowship with her ladies bible class, and sharing her love for the Lord.

Out of all the titles Fran has, being “Granny” to her seven grandchildren was one of her favorites. As Granny, she provided her grandchildren with a childhood filled with magical memories. She hosted every holiday and did so with ease, held sleepovers with endless coke floats, and best of all, treated them to a week at the beach every summer. She cultivated their imaginations when they were at her home, allowing them to run wild outside, make a mess playing dress up with her sewing fabric and cooking with her in the kitchen. Fran has the gift of being an amazing listener, a talent she utilized especially when her family needed a shoulder to cry on.  Her ability to heal her family’s heartaches with nothing more than some time together on her swing and her beautiful words of wisdom will live in their hearts forever. Eight years ago, Fran was blessed to become Granny again to the next generation of her family, as she became a great-grandmother. The love she felt for her great-grandchildren provided her with a new lease on life, endless laughs and overflowing love for the last decade of her life.

Fran is survived by her daughter, Tanya Kalkbrenner and her husband, Louis; son, Joe Eidom; and daughter, Tressa Warner and her husband, Donnie. She has 7 grandchildren, Kate Leverett and Claire Poindexter, Kristen Burkett and Preston Warner, Jason Eidom, Corrine Eidom, and Roxanne Eidom; and 8 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Emilia, and John, Stella, Maggie, and June and Charlie and William on the way.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741.

A gathering of Mrs. Eidom’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

    To Fran’s family,

I only remember meeting Fran 1 time in my life, at her home in Beaumont. What an elegant lady. Nelson went to school with my mom, Dean Bowen. He actually set up the blind date where my parents met. I will be forever grateful to the Eidom’s!! Now all 4 are together again!!

What a loss!! Will keep the family in my prays.

Sincere condolences to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God provide the necessary peace and comfort to your family and friends during this difficult time. Please remember these words of encouragement from the Bible: “Jesus plainly told her: I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” —John 11:20-25.
