Frances “Naoma” Bryce Smith, 86, of Winnie, passed away at home on September 27, 2018, surrounded by family. She was born on April 1, 1932, in Hollis, Oklahoma, to Ruby Mae Corbitt and Bufford Clell Bryce, and lived in Winnie all her adult life. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by daughters, Thelma Smith; Brenda Smith Bartlett and her husband, Claude; and Laura Smith Dugas, all of Winnie and Lorraine Smith Gibson, of Pearland; granddaughters, Carla Bartlett Gardner and her husband, Jason and Mikalyn Dugas; great-grandson, Jaxon Gardner; step-grandchildren, Robert Bartlett; Jeff Bertrand; John Bartlett; Mandi Sanders and her husband, James; Michelle Dugas; and Hollie Dugas; step-great-grandchildren, Robbie Bartlett; Grace Bartlett; Jamie Bertrand; Jordan Bertrand; Whitney Bertrand; Ryan Bertrand; Claudia Bartlett; Abby Bartlett; Bronwyn Albanese Gallander and her husband, Stewart; Briana Sanders; Braleigh Sanders; Blanton Sanders; and Kaymen Dugas; step-great-great-grandson, Easton Gallander; sister, Jean Bryce Phelps; brothers, Richard Bryce and his wife, Marilyn and Roger Bryce and his wife, Bonnie; sister-in-law, Shirley Bryce Dykes; brothers-in-law, Homer Barrett and Raymond Kunefke; stepsister, Nancy Cathey Carter; stepbrother, Allen Cathey; and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.C. “Smitty” Smith, Jr.; sisters, Ruby Ellen Bryce Barrett; Faye Bryce Kunefke; and Thelma Carthell Bryce; brothers, Lonnie Bryce and his wife, Wanda; George Bryce; James Edgar Bryce; and Harvey Buster Bryce; sister-in-law, Mary Lucille Smith; brother-in-law, Frank Phelps; stepsisters, Joy Cathey Shelton and Mary Jean Ruff Sherrill; stepbrothers, Clovis Cathey, Kenneth Cathey, and Paul Cathey; and step-grandchildren, John K. Bartlett, Dana Bartlett, and Kaylee Dugas.

A gathering of Naoma’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2018, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

The family wishes to thank care givers; Dr. Nedrana Boutte and staff, Baptist Hospital, Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Oak Groves Nursing Home, Encompass Home Health and Kindred Hospice.
