Greg Kobrin
On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Greg passed peacefully into his eternal home with Jesus, surrounded by his children.
Gregory Kobrin was born on September 2, 1933, to Mary and Harry Kobrin. Greg’s father, Harry, immigrated to the United States from Kiev, Ukraine as a teenager. Greg was raised in Waterbury, Connecticut and only spoke Russian until he began school at 5 years of age. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1955 with a degree in Chemistry. Greg then began a 40 plus year career as a metallurgist at DuPont.
Greg met Dorothy Dyer, the love of his life in Charleston, West Virginia, at Christ Methodist Church. They were both members of the Charleston Light Opera Guild. The two were later married on June 29, 1957.
Greg and Dot moved to Beaumont in 1965. They were active members of Trinity United Methodist Church choir and youth fellowship. In later years, Greg and Dot were active members of Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center and then Christian Fellowship. Greg served faithfully on the board of elders at both churches. Greg’s career afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively in the US and abroad. He was blessed to have Dot accompany him on many of his trips.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; parents, Mary and Harry Kobrin; and brother Ted Kobrin.
Greg is survived by his daughters, Kathy Kobrin and Susan White and her husband, Rick; son, David Kobrin and his wife, Julie; grandchildren, Jordan Martin, Chase White, Luke White, Daniel Kobrin and Emma Kobrin; great-grandsons, Matthew White, Austyn White and Caiden Martin.

I was the Engineering Services Division secretary for three years at Du Pont. Greg was one of the original five engineers in the group and was the kindest, nicest person I have ever met. I “caught up” with him via telephone in 2007, and we reminisced about the “old” Du Pont. He was soft-spoken, hard-working, and just the best. Rest in peace, Mr. Kobrin. You lived a life of love and peace, and you will always be remembered.
Greg and my dad were close friends at Cathedral and my dad spoke very highly of him. The family is n my prayers.
Greg was a true friend to anyone who needed a friend. He was the most respected man I ever knew. His Christianity showed in everything he did and I have no doubt that he is in heaven with our Lord and Saviour. I feel truly blessed to have known and worked with Greg.

Am greatly saddened to read of the graduation to heaven of my longtime friend, Greg…so well remember our good memories of years gone by as well as our singing in choir together many years ago at Trinity United Methodist Church…plus he was Theta Xi fraternity brother though from different universities….Prayers and blessings to the family during this very sad time of your lives….
