Helen Bridges Jones

April 3, 1937 - January 24, 2021

Helen Bridges Jones, 83, of Houston, died Sunday, January 24, 2021 at The Farrington at Tanglewood, Houston. She was born on April 3, 1937, in Eureka, California, to Pauline East and Enoch Clyde Bridges. She was a retired legal secretary.

Helen and her husband, Bob moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Beaumont in 1962 to begin a new life and new adventure with a house full of their children. Bob worked in the food brokerage and Helen worked in the secretarial field. Bob went on to work in the automobile sales industry at local car dealerships and Helen went on to work as a Legal Secretary for both Judge Clayton and Judge Stover in the State of Texas Court of Appeals. Later she helped her daughter Linda when she became a Nurse Practitioner and successfully opened one of the first rural Health Clinic in the State of Texas where she facilitated as Office Manager on an as needed basis.

In addition to working outside of the house she took care and raised a house full of children with love and compassion and naturally a strong belt if the truth be known.

She and her loving husband loved to Motorhome and RV together with their son Bob and his wife Dell along with the Honorable Judge Jack King and his wife Doris for many years.

Helen could be found anywhere having the time of her life, from white water rafting in Colorado, to spending the summer in Big Bend National Park as a Park Hostess.  Helen made several cruises with her close friend Terri Bleuel.   In addition, Helen made World trips to Qatar and Italy, with family members and then walked the Great Wall of China and completed her life long dream of going to Russia on her own.

Helen moved to Houston in 2007 to start new adventures keeping Beaumont as a satellite base camp as she called it to see family and friends.

Helen had a zest for life, a love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Helen had a lifelong love of animals and would tell anyone who would listen she came home from the hospital to two cats and two brothers.

She is survived by her sons, Robert E. “Bob” Jones, Jr. and his wife, Dell, of Houston; Kevin B. Jones and his wife, Anne, of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Robert W. “Rob” Jones, of Beaumont; and Reverend Bryan D. Jones and his wife, Ruth, of Many, Louisiana; daughters, Donna D. From afar I witnessed how much joy you brought to those around you and especially to your daughter Carla whom I’ve had the privilege of working with for the past 5 years. I know we will all miss seeing your photos beaming with the beautiful joyful light that you were and still are. Your smile was infectious and brighten even some of my days even though we never met. I pray that everyone who feels your physical loss can find some comfort in knowing that you’ll always be nearby and that one day you all will be together again. May the beaming sun be the sweet reminder of the beautiful light you shared while you were here.

To the Jone’s Family, What an amazing and classy person Helen was.! I had the great pleasure knowing her when she was office manager for my father atty Anthony G. Brocato. I along with 3 other siblings were attending college at the time. Helen was managing a demanding attorney and then crisis would strike. It was a call from one of us with what we thought was the end of the world. Helen stepped in was great at calming us down with her up beat optimism and prepared us to face the force. (Dad’ always took our call . His bark was worse than his bite). I will always remember Helen’s sweet smile and comments of encouragement. May she Rest In Peace and external light shine upon her. My prayers are with each of you. God Bless, Jim Brocato
