Herbert Daigle

Herbert Joseph Daigle, 81, of Fannett, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017. He was born on June 2, 1936, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Ida Marie Carrier Daigle and Laurant Daigle, and was a longtime resident of the area.

In 1956, Herbert was living at the YMCA and working parking cars in downtown Beaumont, when he met Mary Nell. They married in 1957, and he started working for the Port of Beaumont as a Longshoreman, where he eventually retired after twenty-nine years. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Daigle; son, Duke Daigle and his wife, Teri; daughters, Debbie Smith and her husband, Terry; and Holly Honeycutt and her husband Johnny; all of Fannett; sister, Theresa Beaugh, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ty Daigle, MaryAnn Vandiver, Joey Craigen, CJ Smith, Shawn Smith, Bailee Honeycutt, and Jesse Honeycutt; and great-grandchildren, Landon Vandiver, Laney Vandiver, Cade Craigen, Brody Craigen; Colson Smith, Cody Smith, Samuel Smith, and Sadie Stanley.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joey Daigle; brothers, Horace and Linus; and sisters, Frances, Eurella, May, and Bell.

A gathering of Mr. Daigle’s family and friends will begin at 3:30 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
