Jack Hing Wong, Jr.
Jack Hing Wong, Jr., 68, of Beaumont, died Monday, December 19, 2022, at his home in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on October 1st, 1954, to Jack Hing Wong and Mah Shee Wong, in Cleveland, Mississippi. A unique man with broad interests, Jack had well-documented love for golf, distance running, his long career in physical therapy, saving money via a good sale, and all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets. He was a collector who, over the years, enjoyed accumulating fish for his koi pond, large dogs, large sons, rare coins, guns, value packs of discounted flashlights, old receipts, medical supplies (“borrowed” from the hospital), and random papers to stack on his chaotic office desk. Jack was a mostly-proud father to four sons, an adoring grandfather to two girls, and though he often acted reluctant to spend the money, he secretly loved spoiling all six of them.
Jack spent 40 years in the Golden Triangle as a physical therapist working both in hospitals and home health settings. He graduated from Delta State University with a biology degree, and completed physical therapy school at UMC Jackson, MS of Ole Miss. Jack loved his work and cared deeply for his work family. Anyone who knew him was well aware of his incredible work ethic, and he truly enjoyed being at his “home away from home”. He was a natural caregiver, a man of compassion, patience, and humility, and his heart ached for hurting and downcast people. Jack took his position as a deacon at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church very seriously. He prayed for his deacon families regularly, and touched many lives through various ministries. A couple of his favorites were mission trips and VBS. Whether at work, church, or in his personal life, Jack never shied away from “the least of these” and he did not desire attention or accolades.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, Jack Wong, Sr. and Mah Shee Wong of Cleveland, Mississippi; his brothers, William Wong of Cleveland, Mississippi; Richard Wong of Dallas, Texas; Phillip Wong of Magnolia, Texas, and his sister, Evelyn “Auntie” Wong Herrmann of Georgetown, Texas. Jack is survived by his wife, Lenee Mathis Wong of Beaumont, Texas, and son, Jack Hing “Trey” Wong III, daughter-in-law, Hillary Wong, and granddaughters, Emmy and Layla Wong, of League City, Texas; sons, Trevor Wong of Beaumont, Texas; Trent Wong of Louisville, Kentucky; Troy Wong, and daughter-in-law, Emily Wong of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Patricia Wolf, and brother-in-law, Otto Wolf of Lake Village, Arkansas.
A gathering of Mr. Wong’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2022, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, 6220 Westgate, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

We are so sorry to hear of Jack Passing but oh what a glorious Christmas he will have! I will always think of him at Christmas when we used to go to the Christmas pagent and see him. We have fond memories of our meals together as a MASH family when the kids were small- Jack and I loved to cook!! I seem to remember shrimp in a brown sauce…. He loved Lenee and the boys and we had good times and lots of laughter back then. Remember him with smiles and know you will meet again
I’m so shocked to learn that Jack passed away in 2022! I worked with Jack at Beaumont MASH and shared the love of all you can eat pizzas during lunch. Jack was the kind of guy who lived simply but fully. I remember caring for their dogs at one time.
