James Edward Russell

James Edward Russell, 78, of Kountze, died Tuesday, January 2, 2024.  He was born on November 27, 1945, in Beaumont, to Velma Tatum Russell and Gordon Russell.

Survivors include his children, James G. Russell; Geneva Neugent; and Mary Buffington and her husband, Billy, all of Buna; Anthony Russell and his wife, Rebecca, of Kountze; Robert Willey and his wife, Wynette, of Buna; and David Willey and his wife, Rose, of Gist; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gordon Wayne Russell of Kountze; JoAnn VanBrocklin and her husband, Raymond, of Lumberton; and Curtis Russell of Honey Island.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Russell; and brother, John David Russell, Sr.

A gathering of Mr. Russell’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at William Hart Cemetery, Kountze.
