James "Jimmy" Ronald Stanford

July 13, 1953 - April 21, 2020

James “Jimmy” Ronald Stanford, 66, of Beaumont, passed away April 21, 2020

Jimmy was born July 13, 1953, in Beaumont, Texas and was the second born child to Nettie Cormier Hebert and John Stanford.

Jimmy worked for 40 years at the Beaumont State Center (now known as Spindle Top) doing varies jobs as needed. One job that he took pride in was being a printer making document copies for local businesses.

Jimmy was a child born with special needs. He could not walk, he could not speak clearly. He could not do many things other people take for granted every day. He did not dwell on the things he could not do and the everyday challenges of life he endured. Jimmy had an abundance of love for life, his family, and friends. Always asking about everyone he knew and sincerely wanting to know how they were doing. Jimmy was a kind man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed laughing and joking. He was proud of his Cajun roots and heritage. Jimmy was a big fan of Cajun and Country music.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents: Nettie Hebert, Carroll Hebert (loving step-father), and John Stanford; brother: John Wayne Stanford.

Jimmy is survived by his siblings: Jane Kennedy (Troy), Theresa Goodman (Curtis), Tommy Stanford (Debbie), Allen Stanford. Nieces and Nephews: Ronnie (Deanna), Allison (Paul), Robert, Dallon (Sunny), Curt, Chad (Courtney), Cody (Jessie), Tia (Billy), Katy (Ryan), Heather (Seth), Amy (Dalton), and many precious great-nieces/nephews.

The family wishes to thank College Street Nursing Home and a special thanks to the long term love and care extended to Jimmy by Robin Murray and Spindle Top.

Jimmy was our rainbow. Through the tough times, through the adversity and the challenges and the pain, he shone through with a special light. Like a rainbow he was a blessing from above and we will never forget this beautiful gift who touched the hearts of everyone he met. Fly, our precious brother, fly high to Heaven and run barefoot through the fields.

Lift up your heart, Peace be to thee, God wanted me. He set me free. It’s my time to leave.

A family graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Uncle Jimmy was the definition of pure and innocent. A special soul. From such a young age, growing up around someone with a disability, I feel privileged to know such a person. My favorite memories are so vague. We had many laughs and goofy times together. But.. As I grew up, I realized how intelligent and passionate my uncle was. Specifically, his passion and hobby of collecting Steins. His stories about each of his many pieces were always so intriguing. He loved his Cajun music. His coffee was a must! Bamaw, his mother, was also very important and special to him. Along with his siblings, nieces and nephews. Most importantly, he cared so much about the people he loved. He was always sincerely interested in what other people were experiencing. He wanted to make sure the people he loved were doing okay. I will always appreciate Uncle Jimmy for what he has taught me about loving people, no matter the flaw. He will always be remembered for his passion and bravery. Him and his siblings have a bond beyond unconditional love. I feel Uncle Jimmy has served such a special and beautiful purpose, a lesson, during his time on earth. He will be forever missed and always remembered.
