James Pitts

March 5, 1936 - March 28, 2018

James Hartwell Pitts, 82, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born on March 5, 1936, in Sheffield, Alabama, to Bertha and Henry Pitts. James proudly served his country in the United States Army and later worked in a steel mill.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Pitts; children, Ron Pitts and his wife, Stephanie of Silsbee and Pam Johnson and her husband, Gil, of Estes Park, Colorado; grandchildren, Amber Pattarozzi and her husband, Terry, of Evadale; Gil Johnson and his wife, Amber of Estes Park, Colorado; Jimmy Pitts of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jason Johnson and his wife, Jacque, of Loveland, Colorado; Steven Pitts of Bay City; and Ashley Rose McCright and her husband, Matt, of Milliken, Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Anthony, Addison, Olivia, R.J., Layla, Abbie, Gracie, Savannah, Ella, Elizabeth, Maddison, and Sarah. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Elton Pitts and Phillip Irions.

A gathering of James’ family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2018, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Park, Silsbee.
