Jewell “Judy” Marie Phelps
Jewell “Judy” Marie Phelps, 85, of Winnie, died Sunday, October 8, 2023. She was born April 17, 1938, in Sivells Bend, to Ruby Mae Johnson Chapman and Robert Edward Chapman.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-nine years, John William “Dub” Phelps; daughters, Renee Murrell and husband, Ronald, of Winnie, and Diana Swor and husband, Billy, of Chico; son, John William “Willie” Phelps, Jr. of Anahuac; grandchildren, Rachel; Katy; Cody and wife, Sarah; Corey and wife, Jessica; Coby; Trent; Tiffany; Cade and wife, Sarah; and Madison; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Chapman and wife, Barbara, of Gainesville, and Tommy Chapman and wife, Nan, of Arlington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregory “Greg” Phelps; brother, Richard Chapman; and sister, Rosa Lee Mohtasham.
A gathering of Mrs. Phelps’ family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Phelps’ honor may be made to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901.

Judy and my mom were best friends they are both back together. I will always love this sweet lady.
Miss Judy was the sweetest💜 I met her when I went to work for Walmart shortly after we moved to Winnie. I was trying to make baby doll clothes for my daughter for Christmas ~ she offered to help me learn (she was very patient) I was so thankful for her help. She will be greatly missed 💜
