JoAnne “Jody” Stedman Yost Fulbright

Joanne Stedman Yost Fulbright passed away October 30, 2017. A Beaumont native, Jody was born at Beaumont’s Hotel Dieu Hospital on March 17, 1930, to Jerry C. Stedman and Bea Post Stedman.

She graduated from Beaumont High with the class of 1947, then attended The University of Texas where she pledged Zeta Tau Alpha. She became a member of the Junior League of Beaumont in 1950.

In 1951, she married the love of her life, Fred Yost. They moved to Houston in 1954. After the loss of Fred in 1977, Jody remained in Houston until 1994 when she married old childhood and family friend, W. W. “Bud” Fulbright, Jr. and returned to Beaumont. 

She was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Houston, the Golden Triangle Republican Women’s Club, the Tyrrell Historical Library Association, and the Texas Gulf Historical Society.

She is preceded in death by father Jerry C. Stedman, Jr., mother, Bea Post Stedman, brother, Jerry C. Stedman, III, husband, Fred G. Yost, and husband, W.W. “Bud” Fulbright, Jr.

She is survived by sons Fred G. Yost, Jr., James Stedman Yost, and daughter Anne Yost Elam; grandchildren Josie Elam , Fred G. Yost, III, Christian Brown and his wife, Denise, Amy Poynter and her husband, Paul, and five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Trenton, Katy, Ian, and Skylar.

Mrs. Fulbright’s funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 680 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at 3:00 p.m., at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston.
